What do I need to bring with me?
On your first visit you will need to bring your identification - depending on the trial you may need to bring other materials which the research team will let you know of in advance. For the final visit please bring your bank details with you for payment. During the overnight stays you may bring devices such as laptops or mobile phones for entertainment. You will have access to free WiFi.
Our clinical trial unit has a large television with digital channels, an Amazon fire stick, an Nintendo switch and many other games to keep you occupied.
Will I stay overnight?
Some of our studies will require overnight stays. We have two ward areas on-site. Beds are separated by curtains if you prefer your own privacy. There are shower facilities available for our participants to use.
Will meals be provided?
Meals and snacks will normally be provided as part of the study. These will be provided at set times during the study. Information will be available before the study which will give a more detailed account of meals and snacks for your specific study.
How do I know what study I will be on?
Before your screening visit you will be sent a participant information sheet detailing information about the specific study you will be participating in. You will also receive a screening call from a trained member of BDD staff outlining the details of the study. At your screening appointment the medic will also give you information on the study before obtaining written consent.
Will you notify my doctor?
After written consent is gained from the medic, a letter will be sent to your GP to inform them that you are participating in a trial with BDD.
Can I withdraw consent at any time?
You can withdraw consent from the study at any time by informing a member of the BDD clinical staff. You do not need to provide a reason for your withdrawal of consent.
